Harland and Heartburst win Architizer A+ Awards
The Harland
Solidifying it’s status as an icon in West Hollywood, The Harland recieved a Special Mention in the 2024 Architizer A+ Awards. Known for it’s recognizable juxtaposition balconies and illuminating white façade, The Harland offers both luxury living and affordable housing in one of the most revered neighborhoods in the country.
The Harland was designed to reimagine high-density urban living while celebrating the local neighborhood’s character. Creating fluidity between indoor and outdoor living, the project features thirty-seven condominium homes with expansive outdoor terraces. Broken down into two zones, it rises four stories along the west, and three stories within the predominately low-rise neighborhood to the east.
Inside, a curated collection of amenities provides a selection of social, lifestyle, and wellness spaces. Common spaces include a screening room, entertainment lounge, a private two-lane bowling alley, and a state-of-the-art fitness center with an adjoining yoga studio.
Located only a few blocks from the vibrant Sunset Strip and Beverly Hills, The Harland was designed as one-of-a-kind, casual, elegant housing in the heart of West Hollywood.
Heartburst
Blending desert aesthetics with sustainable intention, Heartburst embodies environmentally conscious architecture through an intricate design and holistic purpose. Utilizing bamboo to create a beacon of sustainable material use, Heartburst has been awarded a Special Mention in the 2024 Architizer A+ Awards in the Architecture + New Materials use category.
The art spectacular Heartburst encourages visitors to slow down, be present in their surroundings, and achieve a state of mindfulness. In addition to its sustainable nature, bamboo enhances the grounding experience of Heartburst, furthering human understanding of materiality in the built environment.
The Heartburst team has been passionate about the use of bamboo throughout this journey and are proud to have it formally recognized. The bamboo, provided by Malaysian team SEAD, was one of the driving forces behind creating Heartburst. Stronger than steel compared to its weight, bamboo is one of the most sustainable and fastest-growing materials available. Sensitive to the environmental impact of building temporary structures on the Playa, Heartburst advances environmental responsibility while demonstrating the possibility of creating stunning spatial experiences without causing harm to the planet. Understanding that the building industry must become more sustainable, the team saw Heartburst as an opportunity to explore the material’s potential first-hand, and bring more awareness to its role in a more sustainable built environment.
