At the epicenter of the Los Angeles Arts District, 4th & S. Hewitt stands as a beacon within the eclectic landscape of the Arts District. Its exuberant presence offers a transformative approach to modern working, redefining the inside-outside boundaries of post-pandemic workspace while embracing sustainability, connectivity, and the dynamic spirit of its surroundings.
The heart of the campus lies in its stepped-back terraces, seamlessly blending with the low-slung retail storefronts along 3rd Street, with a crescendo at the corner of 4th Street and Hewitt Street. The terraces serve as a visual transition between the tower and the active street front along 3rd while paying homage to the industrial heritage and vibrant, uninhibited ethos of the area. Reflecting the district’s history, they offer a glimpse into the neighborhood’s past while leaning into its future.
Within the tower, double-height floors echo the volumetric spaces found in the neighborhood’s iconic industrial warehouses. This design not only honors the district’s history but also offers tenants future flexibility to customize and expand their footprint as needed. It’s a nod to the adaptive nature of the Arts District, where innovation thrives amidst historical context.
At street level, the campus embraces its role as a catalyst for neighborhood vitality and cultural enrichment. Ground-level retail spaces and an art gallery invite pedestrians to explore, discover, and connect with local artisans, entrepreneurs, and creatives, infusing the streetscape with energy, diversity, and authenticity.
4th & S. Hewitt’s integration with the neighborhood extends beyond its architecture. The terraces, strategically placed atop the double-height floors, serve as outdoor workplace amenities. From one-on-one meetings to larger group gatherings, these flexible spaces offer panoramic views of the downtown Los Angeles skyline, inspiring creativity and collaboration. They serve as hubs of interaction, where ideas flow freely amidst the backdrop of urban energy.
In essence, the campus transcends the boundaries of traditional development paradigms, embodying a holistic vision of urban working and thriving. A testament to its unwavering commitment to sustainability, creativity, and community, 4th & Hewitt stands as a beacon of possibility in the heart of the Los Angeles Arts District.
